While doing some cruising through the 2007 Wrangler service manual, I found that the CAN interior bus (radio, amp, dash cluster, Intrusion transceiver module) is available on the OBDII connector as listed below:
- Pin 3 CIB+ (interior bus)
- Pin 11 CIB-
- Pin 6 Diagnostic CAN C+ (normal OBDII CAN connections)
- Pin 14 Diagnostic CAN C-
- Pin 16 +12
- Pin 4,5 ground
- Pin 7 SCI transmit
This is great news as one doesnt have to tap into the radio harness to access the CAN interior bus. A DPDT toggle switch in your OBD harness would allow an ELM327 based monitor to work either with the OBDII functions or to eavesdrop on the CIB.
I wonder how many post 2007 vehicles have pins 3 and 11 populated in the OBDII connector... have a look and update this post with what you find.
Bummer
my 2010 Wrangler only has Pins 4,5,6,14 and 16 populated, so the CIB has to be accessed through the central gateway in the TIPM or a harness hack.
