I'm a newbie in canbus matter, but would like to start a project to communicate (transmit and receive) can messages to my BMW through an Android tablet such as Samsung or Asus.
My questions are:
- what the best hardware to do this (dongle, micro-controller+shield, others)
- there is an API for Eclipse/Java to interface with this hardware
- any other additional info which can be helpful
I found OpenXC http://openxcplatform.com/ through the net, but didn't understood if possible to connect to can bus directly instead of through OBD and if possible to send messages beyond to only receive. Also didn't understood if can be accessed through Eclipse/Java IDE.
