I've been researching this with my 14 charger. I've successfully have mapped out the shifter and RPM from my car. its really easy once you get your device setup. I'm actually using a device called "carloop" so much easier to setup and the footprint is amazingly small. using linux and Canutils the whole process is much easier. my only problem is sending commands. I can map out anything in the car but when I send the command back to the car I get nothing. I'm still looking into this problem I know I'm doing something wrong. I'm thinking their is a "gateway" or "firewall" I'm going to need to bypass to be able to successfully send commands. I can see the commands being sent but I get no action that leads me to believe something is blocking my commands or somehow they are getting lost in the can bus. I'm doing this all through the OOBDII port. there are other devices like the zauto tazer & avidcode that connect through the OBDII port and can essentially edit the car through their so I know there is a way to do it I just need to figure it out.
