Hi and thanks for reading..
I'm currently in a project of replacing my dead ECU with a stand-alone unit based on arduino. I'm fairly confident of my ECU implementation regarding the engine control by itself, but my understanding of the ECU interactions with other modules in the car is less comprehensive. My biggest problem seems to be the communication between ECU and TCU. My car has the dualogic automated-manual gearbox (AFAIK same as selespeed), which gets various signals from the ECU, such as RPM, Throttle position, Torque etc. Now, if I am to toss the OEM ECU and put my own, I need to talk to the TCU the same way... So my general question is - is it doable?
Provided I have access to a similar car to log the CAN correspondence, and the equipment to do so - can I learn their language?
Thanks for any help!
(Hoping I will not have to toss the TCU as well..)
Ideas and discussion of what to do with the CAN Bus ( i.e. XMDirect, iPod, Carputer, etc... )
