General discussion about interfacing with the CAN bus

I am working a project here, and I want to interface to the steering wheel controls of a 2016 C class. I am using this wheel in another vehicle that lacks a LIN bus, completely. Reason for it is to control an Android radio and feed commands to a RealDash setup. I'll eventually use an Arduino based setup to do that. In the meantime, I am having trouble with just the correct bit rate for the LIN bus (can be 1-20kbps), and if there are commands that a master LIN controller might be sending to the wheel to activate the controls. At any rate, looking for any and all info anyone might have on the MB LIN bus, beyond the basic info you can find on LIN bus protocols.
