Re: problems using CAN-USB with radio outside of vehicle?

Just finished looking at an REC radio. To keep an REC radio on, my previous post about sending ID 0x4xx still holds true.

Re: Powering up a Dodge REC radio

Turns out I have a REC radio here that I'm testing for a new product I'm working on. To keep the radio on you have to send the power mode ID (previous post) and ID 0x415. Other ID's in the 0x4xx range should work as well except the radio ID 0x416. I sent 8 bytes to the radio. FD 16 3F FF FF FF FF FF

Re: problems using CAN-USB with radio outside of vehicle?

I've been testing on a RES radio. Other radio models should also work, hopefully. To keep the radio on without it resetting you'll need to send two ID's ID: 0x000 (PowerMode) DLC: 1 or 8 Byte0: 0x61 (i only need to send one byte) Byte1~7: can be zero's if you're sending all 8 bytes. ID: 0x1AF (unkno...

Re: Reading PIDs 2013 Dodge Caravan

From what i'm reading it looks like you're not requesting for any PID's. If you want to read the current RPM value, you need to request for the specific PID (0x0C). Once you send the the request, the vehicle will respond with the current PID value.

Re: Powering up a Dodge REC radio

You need to send the PowerMode ID 0x000 plus one other ID to keep the radio. Otherwise it'll reset every 8-10 seconds. The structure for the PowerMode data is shown below //Power Mode LSFTCAN #define POWER_MODE_OFF 0x00 #define POWER_MODE_ACCESSORY 0x03 #define POWER_MODE_IGNITION 0x04 #define POWER...

GM's infotainment system uses 29 bit id's. Below is defines and structure of the data bytes for the 1st generation GMLAN. #define ONSTAR_ID 0x1031C097L // Audio Source Type #define AUDIO_SUPERVISOR 0 #define TELEVISION_TUNER 1 #define AUX_DEVICE 8 #define REMOTE_DIGITAL_VIDEO_DISK 12 #define REMOTE_...

Re: Custom CAN Interface Board

Assuming you have a MS CAN bus radio, does your CAN interface have a terminating resistor(s) across the CANH/CANL wires or internally? If it is a low speed fault tolerant can bus (LSFTCAN) radio then make sure your baud rate is 83.333k, not 125k.

Re: Amplifier Control

That PAC module already controls the Volume, fading, bass and treble. You just need to have what ever CAN interface send the same messages as the PAC module but change the data for the Volume, fade, etc.

Huh ? Rounding off ? What are you on about ? I hope your not talking about the .333 b/c if you leave that off its still less then .5% difference and we all know can is tolerant to 1.5%... right ? Chrysler and Benz was 83.3k for a few years and 125k now. That is that, CAN-B which was the 83 fault to...

edit: actually most cars don't switch till 08
And when you keep rounding off you get what?

I did some direct discussion with colletjr in between and I think it's time to post some results to all involved here. With help from colletjr I could start the radio. And in further process I found out that a '000 63 00 00 00 00 00' which is sent at least every 800ms is fully sufficient to let the...

Re: Bypassing Boston Acoutstic amp on Jeep REC w/ Nav

The upgrade stereo for 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee is a Boston Acoustics' system that has a rear amp. The amp's inputs are the left and right rear outputs from the Alpine-produced REC radio, two CAN B wires, power, and ground. The output is simply 6 pairs of speaker wires. Dash, front door, rear door....
