Re: Hey
I'm new here and interesting in the microcontroller portion of the development process. I've had formal training on the Motorola HC12 but haven't fooled around with it for the last 6 years. I'm more interested in poking around in the insides of the engine controllers on the DCX LX platform. Hope to...

That sounds like something that would work. I don't know the mechanics of the CAN Bus data for miles driven. I am sure the transmission sends something so the system can update the miles driven display. I am assuming that you would be taking about a device that you could just plug in and with the fl...

There is a discussion about this topic on a german board. Please look at: http://www.gti-tdi.de/board/thread.php?threadid=1152 (unfortunately only in german) If you think this thread is really important to the discussion here ... I have translation software that makes life REALLY easy ... I could s...

I try to drop in here everyday but life and more so work demands a ton of my time nowdays. I still want to do something with this project; however, I have a few nasty design projects that I get my paycheck from that have priority. On your search for a chip, have you tried some of the major CAN chip ...
Re: HELP!
I would venture to say that since the Amp is not on a vital bus ... I seriously doubt that having it bypassed/disconnected would cause any problems with the make move side of the house. You more than likely have a real issue somewhere else in your vehicle. I believe the only thing the Amp's data mis...

Hi folks! I get here by searching about CAN Header.... I got a lot of tool to communicate on the CAN BUS network and your project is very interesting. Hope to find new friends over here. Great to have you here ... I know my time has been VERY short in the past couple of months with no sign of relie...

Here is the beef!
In order to get something working for your installation of the NAV unit ... I think the most problems would be in what type of CAN traffic will it need. Right now I am pretty stupid when it comes to the NAV units etc.. linuxkidd is the guru for that stuff; however, I can take whatever he tells me an...

Re: Hi folks
Welcome to the team ... we definitely need more of everything for every phase of the project.
It is great that you have a vehicle to obtain data on! That will help out a lot. Scream if you need help with the CAN232's. That has been the primary interface on this project so far.

Re: 0x1BD Decoded
ID : 0x1BD Edit: My bad, wrote them down in wrong endian format. Corrected now. It should read as B7-MSB and B0-LSB. I thought somthing was messed up with my read vs the real log but its just cause I'm dumb. This still needs a little work, mostly done, but I need to relook at my data, i know there ...

It's been pretty quiet for a while around here. Thought I'd post about the extremely meager progress. The only CAN Bus I have worked on in a little while has been CANs in the kitchen and the Turkey. The non-spousal wife boss unit told me to quit geeking for a while and cook her some T-Day dinner. S...

Due to my incredibly crappy soldering skills, I managed to screw up both the plugs I got from the stash of connectors bought with the donated funds :( I'll try to combine the pieces into a working connector this week, but I've already tried once... Worst case, I'll get a few of my own so I don't ke...

First of all ... greatings from this side of the world and welcome aboard ... now to the questions. -why do you think only in micro controllers, why isn't a PDA w Windows an option? With this all the ideas you mentioned could be only a software: anyone buys his PDA, they order the cable and the soft...
